About Me — The Long Road Back to Adventure
I’m a former geologist and volcanologist who somehow took a detour into the world of fintech - and stayed there far longer than planned. After years of spreadsheets, regulations, and “playing it safe,” I finally decided to listen to the child I used to be… the one who dreamt in contour lines and far‑off horizons.
As a teenager, I’d sit for hours with a massive world atlas - high‑resolution topographic maps, a ruler, a pen, and a head full of wild ideas. Inspired by the adventure novels of Karl May, I plotted impossible routes across deserts, mountains, and oceans. I imagined crossing continents by bicycle, horse, camel, motorcycle, car, and even boat. The librarians knew me as that kid - the one who kept checking out travel guides for nearly every country on Earth.
Nearly forty years later, that child finally won. Or was it the midlife crisis?
I’ve stepped out of the predictable and into the unknown again. The fear is real, but the excitement is bigger. I’m trading routine for discovery, comfort for curiosity, and the familiar for the vast, beautiful uncertainty of the world.
This is my leap back into exploration - one route, one story, one adventure at a time.
